From: Feeding Drosophila gut microbiomes from young and old flies modifies the microbiome

Flow Chart illustrating the experimental steps. Intestinal tracts from three-day old flies (Young) and 77 days old flies (Old) were dissected and added to a 5% sucrose solution. The two different microbial solutions, or a sucrose Control solution were fed to flies. Flies were scored every three days for survival and negative geotaxis (provides a measure of behavioral activity). At days 3, 30 and 38, flies were frozen and subsequently used for 16S rRNA gene sequencing alongside the feed solutions. Created with BioRender.com.
