Cerebral microvascular amyloid in 4 M and 12 M rTg-DI rat brain. Brain sections from 4 M (a,b,c) and 12 M (d,e,f) cortex, hippocampus and thalamus, respectively, of rTg-DI rats were immunolabeled with rabbit polyclonal antibody to collagen IV to specifically detect cerebral microvessels (red) and stained with thioflavin S to identify fibrillar amyloid (green). Emerging cerebral microvascular fibrillar amyloid deposits were observed in 4 M rTg-DI rats, while prominent fibrillar amyloid deposits were observed in 12 M rTg-DI rats. Scale bars = 50 µm.
