Visualization of the influence of segmentation errors on the intercapillary areas and the perfusion distance. In this example when the segmentation is correct, there are two distinct intercapillary areas. However, even if there are only small errors, both distinct areas merge to one with a much larger area. This will distort the features computed from these areas. In contrast to that, the perfusion distance is barely influenced by small segmentation errors.
