The number and transcriptional patterns of genes up- or down-regulated by thermal or high-energy neutral beam irradiation. Panel (a) up-regulated genes by neutral beam irradiation. Panel (b) down-regulated genes by neutral beam irradiation. The genes that showed more than two times higher or two times lower transcription in either of the irradiated samples than those in control samples were designated as up- or down-regulated genes (n = 3 for each sample; false discovery rate < 0.05). In the Venn diagrams, the number of the up- or down-regulated genes in each samples is represented. In the heat maps, the genes up- or down- regulated in either of the samples are shown. Log fold change in transcript abundance from control samples is indicated for each gene. logFC: log fold change.
