Southern California area, east of Los Angeles: the lithotectonic blocks from the Southern California Earthquake Center Community Rheology Model (CRM)1, i.e. Transverse Ranges, Peninsular Ranges, San Gabriel, and Mojavia, are shown with active faults from the Southern California Earthquake Center Community Fault Model (CFM)2. The dashed white line indicates the shape of the sedimentary basins comprising the San Gabriel, Chino, and San Bernardino basins. The seismic nodes deployed during the BASIN experiment and broadband stations from the Southern California Seismic Network, used in this study are shown. The extent of the full model domain is shown in Fig. S1. The black and purple polygons indicate the model extents shown in Figs. 3 and 4, respectively .
