A positive z-score (increase in brown color intensity) reflects increased metabolite concentration and a negative z-score (increase in blue color intensity) reflects decreased concentration. Purple and green colored boxes on top of the heatmap represent the two groups (purple = control group and green = prometryn group), with their position showing how they cluster together, as determined by hierarchical clustering using Ward's algorithm.
