Agreement between results of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing analysis and sandwich ELISA. (A) Bacterial numbers, as detected by sandwich ELISA, in human fecal samples using established monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that were specifically reactive to representative bacteria of human gut microbiome enterotypes Phocaeicola vulgatus JCM5826, Faecalibacterium duncaniae JCM31915, and Segatella copri JCM13464. (B) Agreement between the results of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing analysis and sandwich ELISA of human fecal samples. The analysis was conducted using fecal samples from three different individuals. Data are representative of two independent experiments, confirming that our antibodies can be used to quantify these species of bacteria in human samples.
