The conductance spectra were calculated at different situations for the hopping parameters as follows: (C) only the first-nearest neighbour is on; (D) the first- and second-nearest neighbour are on, (E) all hopping parameters are on up to the third-nearest neighbour, and (F) when the first- and third-nearest neighbour are on (the second hopping parameter is off in this case). New conductance channels open up when the third-nearest neighbour is activated.
