TLR7 KO mice exhibit increased proinflammatory gene expression in the URT following X31 infection. WT C57Bl/6 or TLR7 KO mice were infected with Hk-X31 (104 PFUs) or PBS (control). Nasal and lung tissues were isolated after 6 days and gene expression analysed by RT-qPCR. (A, B) Type I, II and III IFNs or (C, D) proinflammatory genes are presented relative to RPS18 housekeeping as a fold change above PBS controls. Data is expressed as mean ± SEM, n = 3 technical replicates from 6 biological replicates for each strain. Statistical analysis was conducted using two-way ANOVA test followed by Tukey’s post hoc test for multiple comparisons (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, ****p < 0.0001).
