Segmented regression models indicate that there is an asymmetric relationship, with an optimum moisture content for both species (dashed vertical line), above and below which NEE declines, but at different rates. This point is different for each species. (c) Shows both species after rewetting, and how the relationship between moisture and NEE breaks down after drought.
