Effect of Dsup on the viability of Chlamydomonas in flight vs. ground. Chlamydomonas with insertion of the Dsup gene were compared to wild type (WT) strains in flown versus ground control samples. Aliquots of each were stained with propidium iodide and analyzed by flow cytometry. Values shown are the percent of viable cells, defined as excluding propidium iodide, and are the mean ± SEM of six replicates. The p values for significance were evaluated by unpaired two-tailed t-test.
