Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) sludge particles, which range in size from 1 to 10 μm. At lower magnification (a), particles appear in clusters; at higher magnification (b), the smooth surfaces and crystalline structure of individual particles are evident.
