Correction to: Scientific Reports https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-025-88052-x, published online 31 January 2025

The original version of this Article contained errors. The legend of Fig. 2 was incomplete, where parts of the legend were inadvertently moved to the end of the Discussion section.

As a result,

“Regional variation in survival of patients diagnosed with invasive cancer and who received treatments in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, 1997—2015. (A) Variation in 5-year unstandardized relative survival. (B) Variation in 5-year standardized relative survival.”

now reads:

“Regional variation in survival of patients diagnosed with invasive cancer and who received treatments in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, 1997—2015. (A) Variation in 5-year unstandardized relative survival. (B) Variation in 5-year standardized relative survival. The 5-year survival rates for each residential area were calculated upon standardizing the covariate (sex, age at diagnosis, cancer stage, deprivation level, and cancer sites) distribution to that of the entire Osaka Prefecture in each diagnostic period. Regional variation refers to the difference between the 5-year relative survival rates of each CMA and that for Osaka Prefecture. Abbreviations: CI, confidence interval; pp, percentage point.”

Furthermore, the statement “All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript.” was inadvertently duplicated from the Author contributions and placed under an ‘Ethical approval’ subheading within the Ethics declarations. The subheading and duplicated statement have been removed.

The original Article has been corrected.
