Proposed mechanism of action of flecainide under neuroinflammatory conditions: Flecainide, a Class Ic antiarrhythmic agent, confers neuroprotection in the context of neuroinflammation by selectively inhibiting endothelial NaV 1.5. This targeted blockade leads to upregulation of junctional and adhesion molecules, thereby enhancing BBB integrity. As a result, immune cell infiltration into the central nervous system is reduced, attenuating neuroinflammation and contributing to improved functional outcomes.
