Endothelial cell loss (%) 24 h after CAP and control treatment depending on treatment time (minutes). Endothelial cell density was determined immediately before and 24 h after CAP or control treatment for 2 min. (n = 17 cornea pairs), 3 min. (n = 6), or 5 min (n = 7). The endothelial cell density after CAP/control treatment is expressed as percentage of the initial value before treatment (median with interquartile range, red). *Wilcoxon signed-rank test: p = 0.028. Note that negative values do not mean actual cell proliferation, but are due to different image areas that were selected for cell counting.
