Quantity of mitochondrial (mtDNA) and nuclear DNA (nDNA) in the mitochondrial and nuclear fraction. The absolute concentrations of ND1 (mtDNA) and GAPDH (nDNA) in each of the fractions were derived by implementing their Ct-values (A) on a standard curve of plasmid (ND1) and human genomic DNA. The pooled mitochondrial fraction contained 1.38 times more nuclear than mitochondrial DNA and the pooled nuclear fraction contained 512 times more nuclear than mitochondrial DNA (B). Data are presented as mean ± SEM.
