Live/dead fluorescence images of 3T3 fibroblasts cultured on tissue culture polystyrene (TCPS, control), pure κ-carrageenan hydrogels, and κ-carrageenan hydrogels containing 1% or 2% egg albumin at days 1, 4, and 7. Live cells were stained with calcein-AM (green), while dead cells were stained with ethidium homodimer-1 (red). EA incorporation enhanced cell adhesion and proliferation compared with pure KC hydrogels, with the 2% EA hydrogel supporting the highest cell viability by day 7. Scale bars = 100 μm.
