Experimental protocol. After the registration of baseline conditions (BL), animals received either remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC), hemorrhagic shock (shock) or a combination of both treatments (shock + RIPC). In experimental groups with hemorrhagic shock shed blood was transfused after 1 h of shock and animals were observed for 2 h. Animals without RIPC and hemorrhagic shock with subsequent shed blood transfusion served as control (control).
