The y-axis indicates the number of finite-element mesh elements within each modulus range, and the x-axis shows the corresponding E value (MPa). The BS model exhibits a higher proportion of stiff elements consistent with subchondral sclerosis, whereas the LGL and BCL models display broader distributions reflecting localised or mixed sclerosis and lysis. Both 3D and slice-based models exhibited similar distributions; therefore, only the slice-based results are displayed to avoid redundancy.
