  1. At each contrast level, we compared premicrosaccadic enhancement strength for dark and bright luminance polarities. The measure of premicrosaccadic enhancement in this case was obtained by subtracting baseline visual sensitivity from premicrosaccadic visual sensitivity in each condition (like visualized in Fig. 3c and the associated ANOVA). Premicrosaccadic trials were those in which the stimulus onset occurred between − 75 and − 25 ms from microsaccade onset. Baseline trials were those without any microsaccades within ± 150 ms from stimulus onset. The shown p-values were all Bonferroni-corrected for multiple comparisons. Boldfaced p-values are those deemed significant at the 95% confidence limit (after Bonferroni correction).
