The models shortlisted based on metrics evaluating the spatial pattern and interannual variability of mean and extreme rainfall are displayed. Panel (a) ranks the models by their ability to simulate the spatial pattern of mean rainfall and extreme rainfall indices (R95p, R95d, AEPI, and R95pT) using Taylor statistics. Panel (b) ranks the models based on their simulation of interannual variability for these indices using the Interannual Variability Score (IVS). The best 20 models are highlighted in the box, whereas the models common to both rankings (shown in red) are selected for future projection analysis.
