Stable fixed points are indicated by solid, unstable ones by dashed lines. Example trajectories for different values of \(\alpha _N\) are obtained by slowly varying k in the direction of the bifurcation at \(k = 0\) while following the stable fixed point. All noise sequences are generated with the same random seed to ensure extreme values occur simultaneously.
