Visual timeline of the image processing pipeline. Smoothing consists firstly of a Gaussian blur followed by a general flattening via convolutions with a \(8\times 8\) array of ones. A mask is generated from the differential image and filtered and eroded before being reapplied to the differential image. The masked differential SWIR image is added to the green channel of the visible RGB feed. This conversion can lose some of the magnitude data but will not subtract from the positional data, which is the primary function of our imaging system.
