A comparison of REUCID with the current state-of-the-art, deep learning electron microscopy denoising algorithm by Lobato et al.¹⁹, and the classic BM3D⁴⁸ denoising algorithm. The benchmark image is taken from the dataset of simulated images from the Lobato et al. paper. The residual image for a given algorithm is the difference between the noisy image and the algorithm’s reconstruction of the noisy image.
