From: Amplitude entropy captures chimera resembling behavior in the altered brain dynamics during seizures

Fig. 1

(Color Online) Workflow of computing the amplitude entropy (AE) from multi-channel iEEG data for each seizure in each patient: (A) provides a pictorial representation of the seizure data matrix (with time \(\times\) recording-channel dimensions) taken from the SWEC-ETH database. The channels are then frequency-filtered and Hilbert-transformed to obtain the corresponding Analytic Amplitudes per frequency band (AA is the positive envelope of the waveform); (B) shows the distribution of AA across channels at two particular time points (time-point (a) and (b)), demonstrating an amplitude chimera-like state. This distribution of AA is tracked using entropy estimation at each time point; (C) displays the time series of amplitude entropy (AE) along with a time point before (marked in red) and during a seizure (marked in green). The seizure period is indicated by the gray shaded windows. The pre- and post-seizure period always spans 3 minutes (at a 512 Hz sampling rate) with a variable-length seizure ranging from 10 s to 1002 s41.
