From: Amplitude entropy captures chimera resembling behavior in the altered brain dynamics during seizures

Fig. 2

(Color Online) This figure illustrates the distribution of the Analytic Amplitude (AA) of iEEG channels (panels A and B) and the evolution of Amplitude Entropy (AE) over time (panel C), grand-averaged across all seizures and patients, in this order. Standard deviation averaged across patients in shades. The AA distribution exhibits a rapid decay before the seizure (A), in contrast to a slower decay during the seizure (B), indicating varying levels of heterogeneity in the AA during seizure transitions. Note also, how the total number of bins, reflecting the distance between minimum and maximum values of AA across channels, is much higher in (B) than in (A). The AE time series in (C) demonstrates the increase in heterogeneity during seizure transitions, characterized by the gradual decay of the AA distribution, between the periods before and during a seizure. This AE time series is computed from SWEC dataset signals which are pre-filtered between \(0.5-150\) Hz.
