Effect of methanol extract of RPLEO on induction of apoptosis in human MCF-7 and HepG2 cells. The cells were treated without or with IC50 values of (120 µg/mL) of RPLEO for 48 h, collected, RNA isolated, and subjected to rRT-PCR. RPLEO significantly stimulates the activity of a percentage of the apoptotic population (caspase-3, 8, 9, and Bax) and anti-apoptotic genes (Bcl-xL and Bcl-2) compared to the control cells. The results are represented as the mean ± SD of three independent experiments (* = P < 0.05 compared to non-treated cells (control)).
