For the composite monsoon depression, vortex-centered a linear trend in surface air specific humidity (shaded) with total (not trend) low-level (850 hPa) climatological wind (vectors) to illustrate the rotational flow, b linear trend in lower-tropospheric vertical velocity (925–700 hPa mean), and c linear trends in horizontal velocity (vector) and wind speed (shading) at 850 hPa (the level where the storm has the strongest horizontal circulation). Small and large dots mark points satisfying a false discovery rate test at 33 and 15%, respectively.
