Core-glycans added in the cap (N2294/N2331) while folding in the ER are critical for the larger N-glycans in the propeller (primarily at N885) which are processed in the Golgi. Aberration of glycosylation reflects impaired trafficking, and perhaps the larger glycans may act as molecular tethers linking to the ECM as suggested for ENaC70.
