a Standardized flux rate. b Standardized metabolite concentrations. Simulations were conducted with constant bulk glucose (25 mM), lactate (5 mM), and alanine (0.1 mM) concentrations. To facilitate visual comparison, all flux rates and concentrations were standardized by subtracting the mean and dividing the standard deviation calculated over all aggregates. Aggregates range from 30 to 600 µm. Results are averaged by 30 simulation runs.
