  1. Tempo is given in beats per minute (BPM). \(\bar{d}\) is the average position of soloist downbeats in the original recordings in ticks and \(\bar{r}\) is the soloist’s mean swing ratio of the original recordings. Quantized r represents an optimized swing ratio with which we quantized soloist and rhythm section before the manipulations (see Fig. 3). Delayed r is the swing ratio of the rhythm section after the downbeat delayed manipulation. Discographic information on the jazz standards used can be found in Table 2 of the Supplementary Information.
