Fig. 1: SPEQS-2 Optical layout.

Optical layout of the SPEQS-2 instrument inside the SpooQy-1 satellite. A 405 nm laser beam propagates from the laser diode (1) through several optical elements/crystals generating polarization-entangled photon pairs by a collinear, non-degenerate type-I Spontaneous Parametric Down Conversion (SPDC) process8. The photons in each pair are separated by a dichroic mirror (10) and detected by separate GM-APDs (15).
