Size optimisation for the synthesis of nPS with a targeted size of 20 nm (ac) and 250 nm (d, e) for variations of styrene, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and potassium persulfate (KPS) concentrations (wt% in w/w or mM). Particles in b, c and e were synthesised with 1% styrene. Black circles and blue squares represent data from dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements and green triangles and red diamonds represent data from TEM measurements. The error bars represent the size standard deviation of uncertainty (2 sigmas) for each synthesis. Complete data and images are available in the Supplementary Figures and Tables.
