Color for each variable refers to values above or below the average value of that variable (SSH, SSS, and SST), or to positive or negative values (ENSO, PDO, NPGO). Species codes are Pc = false killer whale, Sb = rough-toothed dolphin, S = stenellids, Tt/Pe = bottlenose dolphin and melon-headed whale, Gm = short-finned pilot whale, Md = Blainville’s beaked whale, Zc = Cuvier’s beaked whale, and K = Kogia spp.
