Cumulative probability density distribution (CDF) of long-term mean air temperature (a, Ta), mean Ta and measured season (b) for the 10 peat extraction sites used in deriving the IPCC (2014) Tier 1 EF (Country code CA–Canada, FI–Finland, SE–Sweden). The integrated area ratio of the CDF over the measured period (i.e. grey areas in a) represents the proportion of a year the measured data covers and can be used to correct the EFs.
