Panel c shows the correlation between the zonal undercurrent velocity and the bottom speed on the shelf. Undercurrent velocity is defined as the mean u-velocity across a transect along 115°W, over 71.5–71.3°S. Stippling indicates areas in which the correlation is significant at the 99% level, assuming 10 degrees of freedom.
