From: MafK positively regulates NF-κB activity by enhancing CBP-mediated p65 acetylation

A model based on our studies.
(a) In response to NF-κB-activating stimuli, IκB proteins are degraded by IKK-mediated phosphorylation, a reaction that is not modulated by MafK. However, the MafK-CBP interaction is essential for acetylation of the p65 subunit. Modified p65 is an efficient inducer of target gene transcriptional expression.
