Demographics factors were associated with DNA methylation changes in both PBMC and BEC.
Distribution of unadjusted p-values for association between gender (left), BMI (middle) and age (right) in BEC (top) and PBMC (bottom). Left-skewed p-value distributions showing an enrichment of CpG sites with small p-values suggested correlations of certain demographic factors with DNA methylation. This is in contrast to the relatively uniform p-value distribution of BMI and BEC, suggesting lack of such correlation.
