Effects of addition time of Fe3+ on diacetyl production (A) and glucose consumption (B).

The data were obtained after 14 h fermentation with Fe3+ addition at different time points. The bioconversion was carried out at 37°C in 300-mL shake flasks containing 50 mL of medium with pH adjusted to 7.4. The final concentration of Fe3+ added to medium was 20 mM. Error bars indicate standard deviation (n = 3).
