HIV matrix protein p17 activates and recruits STAT proteins to LXR promoter.

(A) Time course of STAT1 and STAT3 phosphorylation status in HepG2 cells treated with 10 μg/ml of p17 for 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. Band densitometry was carried out using the Image J software. (B) Chromatin Immunoprecipitation assay was carried out in HepG2 cells left untreated or primed with 10 μg/ml p17 for 18 hours. Real-Time PCR was performed on LXRα promoter as described in materials and methods.
