Effect of NGF treatment on the tolerance of PC12 cells to metal compounds.
Differentiated (NGF(+)) cells and naive NGF(−)) cells were exposed to 0, 1.0, 3.0, 10, 30, 100, and 300 μM Cu+-GSH complex (a); 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, 3.0, and 10 μM cisplatin (b); cadmium chloride (c); methylmercury chloride (d); and 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, 3.0, 10, 30, and 100 μM arsenous acid (e) for 24 h. Cell viability was determined by MTT assay. The differences at the level of significance of p < 0.05 between non-treated and treated groups, and naive (NGF(−)) and differentiated (NGF(+)) are indicated by * and #, respectively.
