(a) Experimental schedule. Open and filled bars indicate light and dark periods, respectively. Mice were entrained to the light-dark cycle for at least 14 days. At ZT 1, l-ornithine (1,000 mg/kg) or vehicle was administered to mice after 24 h fasting by oral injection (filled arrowhead); at ZT 2, plasma and tissues were collected (open arrowhead). (b) RT-PCR analysis of clock genes in the liver. mRNA expression was normalized to P0.
