Emergence of polycentric climate governance and its future prospects

There are hopes thatthe dynamic forms of climate governance appearing in different domains will be effective in tackling climate change. This Perspective assesses the future prospects for this so-called polycentric pattern of climate governance.

Tumor cell-based liquid biopsy using high-throughput microfluidic enrichment of entire leukapheresis product

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are clinically useful for detecting and monitoring cancer, but they are rare in blood. Here, the authors use a highthroughput microfluidic device to massively enrich CTCs from leukapheresis products to uncover single cell molecular features in prostate and other cancers.

Pan-cancer analysis of somatic copy-number alterations implicates IRS4 and IGF2 in enhancer hijacking

Hanno Glimm, Jan Korbel and colleagues present a computational framework called cis expression structural alteration mapping (CESAM), which they use to identify somatic copy-number alterations affecting cis-regulatory elements in cancer. They find that enhancer hijacking leads to overexpression of IRS4 and IGF2 in cancer.

SETD1A protects from senescence through regulation of the mitotic gene expression program

SETD1A, a histone H3K4 methyltransferase that promotes gene expression, is required for embryonic development. Here, the authors show that SETD1A regulates the expression of mitotic genes and that SETD1A suppression induces senescence.
