With the increase in antibiotic resistance worldwide, light-induced phototherapies, including photodynamic and photothermal therapy, have attracted interest due to their unique mode of action. Here, the authors report an orthogonally conjugated oligomer bactericide of SiPc-ddCPP, constructed between a silicon phthalocyanine and a porphyrin via an amide bond, and show that it can effectively treat infection through combined photodynamic–photothermal therapy without needing to consider drug resistance.
