Sedimentary redox proxies and microfossil assemblage data from IODP Site U1314 show decreasing bottom-water oxygenation during cold periods between 1.07 and 0.78 Myrs ago, which favored carbon storage in the subpolar North Atlantic during the Mid-Pleistocene Transition (MPT).
