The authors compared mRNA expression in a closed system real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR assay for key breast cancer markers in non-micro-dissected tissue versus micro-dissected tissue in both invasive and ductal carcinoma in situ breast cancer cohorts. They found that microdissection of whole sections is not required for concordance with immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization.
