TOM1L1 drives membrane delivery of MT1-MMP to promote ERBB2-induced breast cancer cell invasion

ERBB2 overexpression in human breast cancer leads to invasion and metastasis. Here the authors report that ERBB2 induces indirect phosphorylation of TOM1L1 that promotes trafficking of the metalloprotease MT1-MMP to invadopodia, which leads to tumour cell invasion.

A modular spring-loaded actuator for mechanical activation of membrane proteins

Studies on mechanotransduction are limited by our ability to apply low range forces to specific mechanoreceptors on cell membranes. Here the authors report the Nano-winch, a programmable DNA origami-based molecular actuator, to manipulate multiple mechanoreceptors in parallel by exerting piconewton forces.
