A sampling strategy, designed to collect and preserve the delicate airborne structure of volcanic ash aggregates during field collection, combined with X-Ray MicroCT imaging of the samples, enables the reconstruction of detailed 3D models of the aggregates’ internal and external architecture, as well as the extraction of their key physical properties.
