The definition of blackbody is an object that absorbs all visible light, in turn radiating into a broad spectrum that depends only on the temperature. As such, a white object is intrinsically not a blackbody. The authors challenge this common intuition by showing that pure-white objects behave like blackbodies under intense light irradiation.
