A new quantum operating system architecture is described that is capable of executing applications on quantum networks in high-level software, which is a step towards bringing quantum network technology to society.

Colliding heavy nuclei take multiple identities on the path to fusion

Superheavy nuclei are synthesized in the laboratory through the fusion of lighter nuclei. Here the authors study multinucleon transfer and interactions during the early stages of nuclear fusion in the collision of ⁴⁰Ca and ²⁰⁸Pb nuclei showing early onset of complexity.

Light-matter interfaces implementing arbitrary conditional operations on incoming photons would have several applications in quantum computation and communications. High-rate entanglement between a semiconductor spin and indistinguishable photons

A three-partite cluster state made of one semiconductor spin and two indistinguishable photons is generated from an InGaAs quantum dot embedded in a pillar microcavity. The three-partite entanglement rate is 0.53 MHz at the output of the device.
